Johnny Damon is currently a free agent, and looking for a team to play the 2013 major league season with. While some may question what the outfielder has left in the tank at the age of 39, however, one thing is for certain: his hair is definitely big-league ready.

Damon appeared at the NASCAR awards in Las Vegas recently, where he honored Tony Stewart for his finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings. What’s more, Damon did so while rocking a sweet faux hawk that stole the spotlight away from the ninth-place Stewart.

The former Red Sox outfielder is far from the only athlete able to steal headlines with his hair, though. Philadelphia 76ers center Andrew Bynum has been a focal point all season long for his incredible afro, and Houston Rockets guard James Harden‘s beard continues to make its own waves in the news pool.

Beyond basketball and baseball, however, there are plenty of athletes able to steal the spotlight with their ‘dos more often than with what they do.
