The Spurs lost Manu Ginobili for the remainder of their game against the Celtics on Saturday, although it looks like the San Antonio shooting guard could have prevented the injury.
Ginobili hurt his left quad while flopping. The Spurs’ guard leaned into a Chris Wilcox screen and vaulted off Wilcox, careening to the ground. Ginobili stayed on the ground, wincing, until getting helped off the court.
Typically, we’d give a player the benefit of the doubt on a play like this, but given Ginobili’s flopping history, this injury is just as much on the Spur as Wilcox.
