Coming into their Monday Night Football matchup against the Titans, the Jets still had a slight glimmer of hope for making the playoffs with a 6-7 record. Mark Sanchez fumbled away the game and those playoff hopes just when they were handed one last chance.
Sanchez had thrown an interception into triple coverage just one series prior when the Jets were given one final chance with 47 seconds left at the Titans’ 25-yard line after Tennessee’s punter, Brett Kern, had shanked one off the side of his foot. Sanchez stood behind centerĀ Nick Mangold in shotgun formation when the snap came in low. He fumbled it, he bumbled it, and then the ball careened off Bilal Powell‘s foot and into the arms Titans linebacker Zach Brown.
The Jets have a lot of questions to be answered in the last two games of their season and into the offseason. But after a five-turnover game, there should certainly be a change at quarterback.
