NHL players and fans aren’t the only ones suffering from the lockout.
Bars and restaurants around the TD Garden have been losing between $850,000 and $1 million per game since the lockout began more than 80 days ago, according to The Boston Globe.
The Bruins would certainly love to see its players back on the ice and revenue climbing once again, but Boston is in pretty good shape compared to other teams in the league. A recent Forbes article reported the Bruins are worth roughly $348 million, leaving them in a comfortable spot financially.
Other teams like the Anaheim Ducks, Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars have major long-term financial issues facing them since they don’t play in a major hockey market and don’t have as much of an established fan base as an Original Six team.
If a deal is reached and an NHL season takes place in 2012-13, both NHL owners and business owners will be happy to see cash coming in.
