Mike Napoli’s Signing Means Red Sox Likely to Consider Trade to Address Catcher Surplus on Roster (Video)

Hours into Day 1 of the MLB Winter Meetings on Monday in Nashville, the Red Sox made an early splash in the free-agent market.

Multiple reports indicate that the Red Sox have signed free-agent catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli to a three-year deal. It is expected that the former Los Angeles Angel and Texas Ranger will primarily play first base for the team.
