Edwin Jackson is only 29 years old, but he’s already played for seven Major League Baseball franchises. While that may be a red flag to a lot of teams, the Chicago Cubs are about to give the right-hander a lot of money to join his eighth club.
CSNChicago.com’s Patrick Mooney reports that Jackson has agreed to a four-year contract worth $52 million. The 29-year-old is coming off of a 2012 season with the Washington Nationals where he went 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA in 189 2/3 innings.

Jackson has already pitched for the Dodgers, Rays, Tigers, Diamondbacks, White Sox, Cardinals and Nationals. He has a 70-71 career record with a 4.40 ERA. However, he has started to show improvement over the last three years. He’s 32-32 over that time with a 4.10 ERA, including a 22-20 combined mark with a 3.91 ERA in his last two seasons. Jackson was an All-Star in 2009, arguably the best year of his career. A year later, Jackson threw a no-hitter with Arizona, shutting out Tampa Bay, despite walking eight and throwing 149 pitches.
