The Dodgers seem to have no limit on their spending this offseason.
The team agreed to a six-year, $36 million contract with Hyun-Jin Ryu on Sunday, after winning his negotiation rights in November by submitting a $25.74 million posting fee, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Ryu will join Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Josh Beckett and Chad Billingsley in the Dodgers’ formidable rotation.
Ryu had a 2.66 ERA and 210 strikeouts in 182 2/3 innings for the Hanwha Eagles last season in the Korea Baseball Organization. He has a career 2.80 ERA in seven seasons, with a 1.15 WHIP.
The Dodgers’ payroll is now around $220 million going into the season. They signed Greinke to a six-year, $147 million contract on Saturday.
