MINNEAPOLIS — Ricky Rubio is ready for his first game of the season.
The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that Rubio has been cleared to make his season debut against the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night. It will be Rubio’s first game since he tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee last March.
The slick-passing point guard has been practicing with the team for nearly two weeks to make sure his knee was ready.
The Wolves have sorely missed Rubio. They’ve struggled with injuries to many of their key players, and starter Luke Ridnour hasn’t been able to get the offense moving as crisply as Rubio did last season.
Rubio said in a statement that he’s excited to hit the court for the first time this season.
