The holiday season is a time for giving, and lately the New England Patriots have been giving fans plenty of unintentional comedy — in commercial form.
First, we had Stevan Ridley rocking a jumpsuit in a Cadillac of Norwood ad, then we saw Vince Wilfork making a mess throwing popcorn at this kids in an iRobot commercial and now we have Rob Gronkowski spiking Gatorade. The Patriots’ tight end won’t win any Oscars — or general praise — for his acting skills, but his exuberance is evident in the BodyArmor SuperDrink ad.
In trying to follow along with the commercial’s narrative, we see Gronk, in his finest holiday sweater, open a Christmas gift (like he’s never seen wrapping paper before) that contains BodyArmor SuperDrink. Then, Gronk notices the video crew in his room, which looks like it was decorated by, well, Rob Gronkowski. Gronk makes his pitch for BodyArmor, and ends with “Let’s make it happen and Gronk-spike the competition.” Gronk is then handed a Gatorade and Gronk-spikes the competition.
Watch Gronk’s impressive performance in the video below.
