Taiwanese Animators Ask If Lionel Messi’s Goal-Scoring Records Are Enough To Make Him All-Time Great (Video)

Lionel Messi catches everything he pursues, when it comes to goal-scoring records.

On Sunday, the FC Barcelona and Argentina superstar scored his 86th goal of 2012, breaking Gerd Muller’s record for most goals in a calendar year (though Muller’s ownership of the record is under dispute).

The expert animators at Taiwan’s Next Media told Messi’s tale — as only they can — in a new video.

The first half of the Next Media video was dedicated to Messi’s rise to the top of the global game, but the other half asked a provocative question: Should we speak of him in the same breath as other legends of the game — Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona and Ronaldo — even though he has not won a FIFA World Cup with Argentina?

Yes, Next Media. Yes we should. There’s more to life than what occurs every fourth summer.

See Next Media’s Messi animation in the video below.
