Tim Tebow Not Preferred Starting Choice for Woody Johnson, Mike Tannenbaum or Tony Sparano

Some members of Jets management think the team’s quarterback spot needs a change.

But none of them think Tim Tebow is the guy who should take the job.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that owner Woody Johnson, general manager Mike Tannenbaum and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano are split on who should be starting for the Jets.

While Tannenbaum and Sparano think the team should stick with Sanchez, Johnson wants third-string quarterback Greg McElroy to take over. No one wants Tebow at the helm.

Head coach Rex Ryan said Monday that he still hasn’t made his decision on who will start this Sunday against Jacksonville after McElroy came in for Sanchez in last Sunday’s game against the Cardinals and led the Jets to a 7-6 victory. Sanchez had thrown for three interceptions against Arizona. This year, he has completed just 55 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

In Tebow’s defense, the popular backup has been dealing with rib injuries and likely isn’t at full health even if he was called upon to start.
