Beyonce certainly silenced her critics on Thursday in New Orleans.
Just a week after the pop star was accused of lip-syncing at President Barack Obama‘s inauguration, the Grammy Award-winning singer opened her Super Bowl news conference with a surprise rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
Although Beyonce wowed the crowd on Thursday, she did admit to lip-synching the anthem during the inauguration, according to FOXnews.com.
“I am a perfectionist,” Beyonce told reporters on Thursday. “And one thing about me: I practice ’till my feet bleed. I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television show. … Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check. … I did not feel comfortable singing live.”
With the Super Bowl inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Beyonce said she will sing live on Sunday. Check out the video of her Thursday rendition of the National Anthem below.
