Tom Brady’s Chemistry With New Receivers, Replacing Brandon Spikes Among Biggest Stories at Patriots OTAs
Brandon Lloyd is usually all smiles, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in the second quarter on Sunday had the Patriots wide receiver a little hot under the collar.
Lloyd was flagged for tossing the ball back to an official in a rather aggressive manner. The incident, which one could argue was a bit overblown, led to plenty of Twitter debate, with some insisting that the ref was in the wrong.
Clearly, the speed of the toss is what got Lloyd in trouble, as he did add some extra zip. However, one has to wonder whether or not it was enough to warrant the 15-yard penalty.
The official — whose opinion is really the only one that matters in this instance — clearly thought Lloyd needed to be disciplined, and thus the call was made. The Patriots had to settle for a field goal.
