Carmelo Anthony Has Been Fasting for Two Weeks, Which May Explain Why He Was So Grumpy

Celtics forward Kevin Garnett got under Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony‘s skin last week when he allegedly said something about Anthony’s wife. According to unconfirmed reports, Garnett said Anthony’s wife, La La, tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios.

This obviously got Anthony heated, and it might not be why you might think. Anthony’s rage may actually be rooted in his hunger, given what he’s been up to for the last couple of weeks.

Anthony revealed that he’s been fasting for about 15 days, which may explain why he was so grouchy. And for Garnett to mention food in the middle of a game? That’s like adding gasoline to the fire.

“I usually do it to get some clarity in my life and spiritual reasons,” Anthony said when talking about the fast, according to ZagsBlog.com.

However, the fasting session is done, and it’s back to you know, actually eating now for Anthony.

“It’s a long story man,” he said, according to the website. “I haven’t had a good meal in about two and a half weeks. No meats, no carbs, anything like that. So I don’t know how I was out there competing at a high level. It’s been some games this past week where your body just feels depleted out there and you’re trying to find a way to get some energy.

“But I surrender, I’m done. I’m going to get some food right now.”

While one would assume professional athletes should probably be eating meals during the season, the fasting didn’t really hurt Anthony’s game, though. He averaged 32 points per game in his six games over the last two weeks.
