David Hasselhoff has still got it.
The former Knight Rider and Baywatch star visited Manchester City on Tuesday, taking in its 3-0 win over Stoke City at the Etihad Stadium. From the looks of things, Hasselhoff’s star power shined brightest in a room full of stars.
The 60-year-old actor is playing the role of Captain Hook in Manchester Theatres’s production of Peter Pan. He had the day off, so he did what any celebrity would do if he found himself in Manchester: Watch Manchester City play. Wait, what?
He and partner Hayley Roberts enjoyed the game from a luxury box at the Etihad, the Mail reports. Afterwards, he went to City’s dressing room and mingled with players and staff. He took photos with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta and many of their teammates. He also got Yaya Toure’s jersey. City reportedly gave Hasselhoff a customized one, but the star’s name was misspelled. Regardless of the gaffe, “the Hoff” thoroughly enjoyed his visit.
“I wish them well,” the Mail reports he told CityTv. “It’s a lovely stadium and the people are great.
“I love the fact that the teams and towns are so loyal and passionate about their players, it’s quite different from America.
“They [Manchester City] were gracious enough to give me a box on my day off and I said ‘I’d want nothing better than to go to a Man City game, see them win, enjoy myself, meet the players and say hi.'”
Celebrities are visiting Manchester City in increasing numbers. Last month, actors Tom Cruise and Robert Duvall were on hand to watch the Manchester derby. It seems like Hasselhoff enjoyed his Premier League outing more than the others.
City players seemed to enjoy Hasselhoff’s company as much as he did theirs. It shows that German’s aren’t the only ones that “love David Hasselhoff.” Argentines, Ivorians, Spaniards and the English can’t get enough of him either.
