Ed Reed Can ‘Definitely’ See Himself Playing for Bill Belichick in Future

Bill Belichick has long been enamored by the play of Baltimore safety Ed Reed, and it’s looking like the feeling may be mutual.

Reed said that he could see himself playing for Belichick, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald. Reed is a free agent after the Super Bowl, and has said that he does not plan to retire.

“I could definitely play for coach Belichick,”Reed said. ”He is a great coach. I’m sure he can help me to expand my football knowledge even more as a player and as a coach, so if I’m ever able to be around him, just like I was at the Pro Bowl, it’s huge.”

Bringing in the 34-year-old safety would be reminiscent of signing the then-30-year-old Rodney Harrison prior to the 2003 Super Bowl season. Reed was drafted No. 24 overall in 2002 and has played his entire career with Baltimore. He’s a nine-time Pro Bowler who’s known for his elite play-making skills, intelligence and instincts.

Reed doesn’t just admire Belichick for his football knowledge, but for his cool, casual fashion sense, as well.

“It’s the reason why I wear my sweater cut off a little bit,” Reed said. “He’s the first guy I saw like, ‘That’s cool.’ You know, that’s cool. … Most people will tell you around the facility that’s how I look. It’s just a blessing to even have met, to know coach Belichick.”

With the way the Patriots’ secondary has played over the last couple years, New Englanders would gladly welcome the rival safety with open arms.
