The Cowboys have hired three of Gruden’s former coaches this offseason after adding another in 2012.
Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, defensive line coach Rod Marinelli and special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia all served under Gruden during his tenure in Tampa Bay, and all have been hired this offseason. Dallas offensive coordinator Bill Callahan was recently given the reins to the Cowboys’ play-calling after being hired in 2012, and he too served under Gruden, but during his time in Oakland.
Despite hiring a handful of Gruden’s former coaches, a team source with the Cowboys told ESPN’s Ed Werder rumors that the former Buccaneers/Raiders head coach could be next are “ridiculous.” It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility that head coach Jason Garrett could be fired, even though the regular season ended weeks ago. Garrett was stripped of play-calling duties, and multiple coaches around him have been fired after the Cowboys finished 8-8 this season. Dallas is 21-19 under Garrett during his 2 1/2 seasons with the team.
