Josh Reddick Decides Slick-Backed Mullet Isn’t Enough, Goes for Frizzy Beard, Too (Photo)

Red Sox fans may still be bemoaning the loss of Josh Reddick to the Oakland A’s in the trade that brought Andrew Bailey to Boston.

But, while comparing stats may leave Sox fans feeling down, the comparative grooming of the players should not.

Reddick, who has grown one of the best mullets in the business, is now going the beard route, too, and it’s quite the interesting look. It’s not so much the beard that’s strange, but rather Reddick’s ability to maintain — or not maintain — it. He seems to be harkening back to baseball’s earliest days, when lumberjacks or Civil War-era gentlemen without today’s modern shampoos weren’t sure what to do with their facial hair.
