Baseball fans have been waiting for the day when Mike Trout would come back from an ocean expedition with a giant aquatic animal at the end of a pole.
It would be a day for wordplay and wittiness, of puns and potshots. What else can you ask for when you have a great outfielder named Trout?
But alas, Trout has caught his first fish, and it’s so big that we can only tip our hats to the center fielder.
Trout’s girlfriend, Jessica Cox, tweeted this photo over the weekend, and the Trout family fishing outing appears to have been quite successful.
500 lb Goliath Grouper! I'd say it was a good day fishing! 🎣 @Trouty20 @JeffreyTrout @TylerTrout @DebbieTrout27 http://t.co/Z3p4Z6C2

Trout’s brother, Tyler, gave a close-up of the catch.
He wasn't very photogenic - nor could we get it into the boat. #huge #goliathgrouper http://t.co/wBn65aMi
