One recently dismissed NFL head coach might soon be off the market.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, the Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of a deal with Andy Reid, who was recently fired by the Philadelphia Eagles. A source reportedly said that “the major issues have been discussed and agreed upon.”
This hiring would mark the end of an interesting turn of events this week involving Reid. Reports began to surface earlier in the week stating that Reid was likely to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. However, news then came out on Wednesday that Reid would meet with the Chiefs in Philadelphia before meeting with the Cards in Arizona.
Apparently, those talks with the Chiefs went well, as it looks like Reid will be Romeo Crennel‘s successor in K.C. Crennel, like Reid, was among those fired on an eventful Black Monday in the NFL that saw seven head coaches and six general managers receive pink slips.
Reid had been with Philly since 1999 before his firing, bringing the Eagles to five NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl during his tenure.
