Wes Welker, Kareem JacksonBernard Pollard may be headed to the Super Bowl with another Patriots pelt on his list of hard hits, but he’ll also face a fine this time after a review of his play in the AFC Championship Game.

Pollard decked Patriots running back Stevan Ridley in Sunday’s game, forcing a fumble and further entrenching himself as a Patriots killer. (He was also responsible for the knee injury that sidelined Tom Brady for a year, the season-ending ACL injury to Wes Welker and the ankle injury that limited Rob Gronkowski in last year’s Super Bowl.)

Now Pollard is paying — but it’s not for the Ridley hit. Instead, Pollard will have to give up $15,250 for a hit on Welker that also incurred a 15-yard penalty in Sunday’s game, according to Pro Football Talk.

It’s little justice for Patriots fans, who would gladly pay the fine in exchange for a Super Bowl berth — or having Ridley keep possession on that other play. But it has to count for something that Pollard finally has to cough over some cash after decimating New England.
