One day after the sport was embarrassed for performance-enhancing drug issues, Major League Baseball is taking unprecedented steps in ensuring its game is clean.
CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman reports that MLB will begin random testing for human growth hormone next season. Thought to have been behind the rest of professional sports for years when it comes to drug testing, MLB is the first major United State sports league to institute HGH testing.

MLB already does random unannounced urine testing for steroids.
This reported announcement comes just one day after the Baseball Hall of Fame announced that baseball writers voted to ensure no living players would be inducted into the Hall this summer. Many writers vowed not to vote for players like Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds for their alleged drug use during the game’s Steroid Era, which saw PED use spike in the 1990s.
