With the official announcement not slated until Thursday afternoon that the New Orleans Hornets will reportedly become the New Orleans Pelicans, it appears that their logo has already been leaked by SportsLogos.net.

Whether you love or hate the name, or wish Anthony Davis’ unibrow would have been chosen as the new face of the team, the re-branding is happening and the Louisiana state bird will be taking over New Orleans starting in the 2013-14 season.  The bird does have significance in the area as the New Orleans Pelicans were a successful minor league team for a few decades.

Hornets owner Tom Benson is expected to explain his reasoning for choosing the Pelicans along with the new red, gold and blue color scheme in the press conference.

Check out the possible new logo below, thanks to sportslogos.net.
