Report: Red Sox Showing Interest in First Basemen Casey Kotchman, Lyle Overbay

Casey KotchmanWith the Mike Napoli deal still up in the air, the Red Sox are reportedly looking at some fallback options at first base.

The Red Sox have shown interest in Casey Kotchman and Lyle Overbay, according to Rob Bradford of WEEI.com. Both players are currently free agents. Kotchman was a member of the Indians last season, while Overbay split time between the Diamondbacks and Braves.

Kotchman was a member of the Red Sox in 2009. The 29-year-old first baseman hit .229 with a .612 OPS in 142 games with Cleveland in 2012. In 2011, he hit .306 with a .800 OPS.

The 35-year-old Overbay hit .259 with a .727 OPS in 2012 with Arizona and Atlanta in just 116 at-bats. He’s a career .270 hitter with a .791 career OPS.
