The Patriots had to be pleased with how healthy the team was heading into the playoffs. Just one game later, the picture has changed considerably.
Rob Gronkowski reinjured the broken forearm that needed surgery a few weeks ago against the Texans on Sunday, and most reports indicate that he will miss the rest of the playoffs. Dan Roche of Boston’s WBZ confirmed that news Monday morning, going as far as to say that surgery is imminent for the tight end.

It’s not all bad news for the Patriots, though. Danny Woodhead, who left Sunday’s game early after hurting his thumb, should be ready for the AFC Championship Game against the Ravens, according to Roche.

Woodhead has been a valuable piece in the Patriots’ offensive attack this season, especially as an option back in the no-huddle sets. While running back Shane Vereen filled in more than capably for him against the Texans, scoring three touchdowns, having Woodhead back will help an offense that found a way to go 4-1 without Gronkowski earlier this year.
