It’s no secret that the dissolution of Tiger Woods‘ marriage to supermodel Elin Nordegren set off a chain of events — beginning Thanksgiving 2009 — that precipitated perhaps the hardest fall from grace an athlete has experienced since O.J. Simpson.
Moreover, given the details that came out regarding Woods and his harem of lovers — the text messages, the deception, the sheer number of women — reconciliation with Nordegren was probably never on anyone’s mind. Except Woods’, apparently.
According to the National Enquirer, the former No. 1 golfer has been desperate to win Nordegren back, and on Christmas he actually got down on one knee and formally proposed, new ring and all, to his ex-wife. But whether or not they’re actually getting back together is still up in the air.
Woods has apparently offered Nordegren a $200 million prenuptial agreement — about one-third of his net worth — but the Swedish model is holding out for a $350 million cheating clause. She won a $110 settlement in her initial divorce from Woods.
Woods and Nordegren have two children together, ages 3 and 5.
The Knicks and Pistons played in London, setting up this … let’s just say “unique” photo op between Thierry Henry and Spike Lee.
“Look, I’ve been fooled before. I believed Mark McGwire was hitting those home runs all on his own natural gifts. I believed Joe Paterno couldn’t possibly cover up something so grisly as child molestation. I bought Manti Te’o‘s girlfriend story. But those people never looked me square in the pupils and spit.”
–Rick Reilly, who should never, ever trust his gut again, on Lance Armstrong’s confession
Good question.
