RickDiPietroHockey players make peanuts compared to the all-stars of the NBA, MLB and NFL, but that certainly doesn’t mean there aren’t a handful of high-rollers skating at an arena near you.

For every superstar that’s earning his multimillions, there are about two or three ripping their owner off, for lack of a better term. Baseball has its Alex Rodriguezs and Barry Zitos while the NBA has its Stephon Marburys and Gilbert Arenas’s. The NHL, while not as severe as its NBA and MLB brothers, has posted up some terrible deals that make even JaMarcus Russell cringe.

The Islanders seem to lead the pack in terms of worst contracts, having both Rick DiPietro and Alexei Yashin pretty high on the list. While the majority of players on this list do, indeed, deserve a nice deal, it’s obvious that the owners went a little overboard with their offers — and are stuck paying for it in more ways than one for years and years to come.
