The Patriots won’t be taking the field inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday, but Rob Gronkowski did make the trip to New Orleans for the Super Bowl.

Gronkowski, who was unable to play in the Patriots AFC Championship Game loss to the Ravens after rebreaking his left forearm, was spotted roaming around the Superdome and taking part in some of the Super Bowl festivities on Wednesday.

Gronk is apparently still healing from a second surgery on that forearm, as he was spotted sporting a protective cast on his left arm. He wasn’t welcoming any football-related questions, but when pressed on the matter of his health Gronk simply responded “I’m fine, I’m fine,” according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

During his visit to the Big Easy, the Patriots’ big tight end is also slated to join some fellow Pro Bowlers for a little video-game challenge. Gronk will join New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz and Houston Texans running back Arian Foster in a 3-on-3 game of Madden NFL against Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham and Mark Ingram of the New Orleans Saints to determine the winner of Madden Bowl XIX.

Once he’s done perusing the French Quarter and patrolling the virtual turf this weekend, Gronk will undoubtedly be back to his normal rehab schedule. He is expected to be back in plenty of time for the start of offseason training activities and to be fully healed by the start of next season.
