SabresMost hardcore hockey fans recall rooting for their favorite teams ever since they can remember.

Sabres fans can now claim being born a true follower of the Buffalo hockey club as the franchise and Kaleida Health announced a “Newborn Program” partnership at area hospitals, according to the team’s website.

“Fandom in Buffalo is something that runs much deeper than in most other places,” said team president Ted Black. “Even from birth, people here know that hockey and the Sabres are a part of life. This program is a way for us to welcome the newest members of our community and hopefully plant the seed of passion that will grow into a lifetime of embracing the game that we all love so deeply here in Buffalo.”

Sabre babies in the program receive yellow baby blankets with the team’s logo and “We Live Hockey” on the back to go with a No. 13 to signify the year. Each baby will also receive a “Future First-Round Pick” certificate.
