Pro Team-Branded Yarmulkes Catching On, Good for Athletes Who Need to ‘Run Up and Down the Floor With It On’

Tired of having your mom patch that team logo onto your yarmulke when you head outside for some sporting fun? Sick of having your yarmulke overheat from lack of ventilation, or fly off when you’re playing hoops in the neighborhood?

Never fear, because if this offering from The Emblem Source is as good as it sounds, all your worries are over.

The Dallas-based company, which makes patches for all kinds of major sports events, is making team-branded yarmulkes, ESPN reports.

The Emblem Source jumped into the fray after company man Brian Rutt decided he could no longer “stand seeing his fellow Jews wearing yarmulkes with badly designed logos.” No players have taken to wearing the specialty head covering, which comes with the same breathability that can be found in a mesh jersey (see the yarmulkes here), but The Emblem Source is making enough from the $19- to $23-priced coverings to make them viable.

The model is called the Pro Kippah.

“We often have grandfathers buying them for their sons and grandsons,” Rutt told ESPN.

Rutt said a retro Brooklyn Dodgers one is appreciated in the New York borough, and Miami Heat fans can expect a “whiteout” version come playoff time.

The best part, however, may be the versatility that comes with the cap. These yarmulkes are not for decoration — they’re ready to wear by any athlete, especially those playing.

“Rutt has also increased his business by making a patented clip that goes on both sides and holds the yarmulke in place from the inside,” Darren Rovell of ESPN writes. “It’s a cleaner look for those who want it to really look like a hat or even for a basketball player who needs to run up and down the floor with it on.”

And there you go.
