For anyone concerned about the health of NHL players who went overseas during the lockout, just consider the case of Bruins forward Tyler Seguin.
The 20-year-old is reporting that he’s “one million percent healthy” after returning from his stint with HC Biel in Switzerland, according to Joe Haggerty of Comcast SportsNet New England.
The reason Seguin’s health is even in question is because HC Biel’s general manager said over the weekend that Seguin left not just because his predetermined time with the team was done, but also because Seguin is dealing with a hip injury that could one day mean surgery. That comment follows speculation from last year that Seguin may have a genetic predisposition to hip issues.
“I have no idea where that came from,” Seguin said of the general manager’s comments, according to Haggerty. “I told them I was leaving with no injury reason.”
Seguin, whose speed is among the best in the game, signed a six-year contract extension with the B’s in September and appears ready to skate in Boston for the long haul.
