Providence CollegeEvery year Hockey East is a battle, and this season is no exception. The conference has produced the NCAA champion eight times since 1993, and the ranks are just as stacked this year.

Boston College and New Hampshire have both been the No. 1 team in all of college hockey at one point this year, so that speaks to just how difficult Hockey East is this season. BC still leads New Hampshire by two points in the standings overall, but the Wildcats also have a stifling defense, which the Eagles can’t boast.

But what about beyond the top teams? What squads have been most surprising this season?

New Hampshire is certainly in the running for that distinction, but Vermont is coming off a big 5-2 win over St. Lawrence, and Providence will be able to prove itself, with a big matchup with UMass coming up.

So, who has been your biggest Hockey East surprise this season?
