If you’re going to be one of the best teams in the league, it’s going to help to have some of the best players in the hockey. That’s why it should come as no surprise that a trio of impactful Bruins find their way onto a list of the game’s 50 best players.
TSN has unveiled its annual Top 50 list, detailing the 50 best players in the league today, and three Bruins can be spotted on the list. Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara checks in at No. 12, followed by forwards Tyler Seguin and Patrice Bergeron at Nos. 31 and 35, respectively.
Chara actually drops on the list after appearing in the top 10 at No. 10 last year. However, the three members of the Black and Gold making the list is an increase from the 2012 list. There were two B’s on last year’s Top 50, with Chara and goalie Tim Thomas (No. 14) making the cut.
The full 2013 rankings can be found here, but it might upset B’s fans to see Chara jumped in the rankings by a pair of defensemen. Nashville’s Shea Weber (No. 11 in 2012) and reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson of Ottawa find themselves at Nos. 7 and 11 this year.
The Penguins and Canucks are well represented in the Top 10, which can be found below.
1. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh
2. Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh
3. Claude Giroux, Philadelphia
4. Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay
5. Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit
6. Jonathan Toews, Detroit
7. Shea Weber, Nashville
8. Henrik Sedin, Vancouver
9. Daniel Sedin, Vancouver
10. Anze Kopitar, Los Angeles
