The last time the Bruins took the ice, they were dealt their first regulation defeat of the season after allowing four third-period goals in a 7-4 loss to Buffalo. That performance, Bruins players say, was an aberration.
“[We made] some poor decisions that we don’t usually do,” defenseman Adam McQuaid said during W.B Mason Bruins Face-Off Live on Saturday. “Usually we’re pretty sound in our system and for some reason we just kind of made some uncharacteristic plays. … I think at times guys were trying to do too much, so [we'll] just worry about doing your own job.”
The team looks to rebound Saturday night against former Bruin Phil Kessel and the Maple Leafs in Toronto. Boston has made out far better from the deal that sent Kessel to the Leafs thus far, netting draft picks that turned into Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton. Both have excelled in their relatively short tenures with the B’s while Kessel has struggled, tallying zero goals on a league-high 33 shots this year.
