Greg Monroe, Josh SmithSome Celtics fans were upset when Boston failed to make any big moves at the trade deadline, including a rumored deal that would have sent Paul Pierce to Atlanta for forward Josh Smith. Celtics legend Cedric Maxwell, who now serves as the team’s radio color commentator, was not one of them.

In his regular appearance on The Big Show on WEEI on Thursday, Maxwell lit into Smith, proclaiming how overjoyed he was that the Celtics did not pick up the versatile yet mercurial big man.

“I wouldn’t have him over to my house for lunch,” Maxwell said. “I wouldn’t let him cut my grass, if I had any.”

Like most Smith’s critics, Maxwell dislikes the shot selection and at times immature attitude displayed by the 6-foot-9, 225-pound Georgia native. Host Michael Holley tried to play devil’s advocate.

“Take away his 3-point shot–,” Holley said.

“I’d take away his two-point shot, too,” Maxwell rebutted. “I don’t like his game.”

What we think Maxwell is saying is, he is not a fan.
