After blowing a two-goal lead in a 7-4 loss to Buffalo that was riddled with defensive miscues, Bruins head coach Claude Julien knew his team needed to respond against a Maple Leafs squad that Boston has dominated in recent years.
The B’s did just that, beating Toronto for a seventh straight time to improve their record to 6-1-1 on the season.
“I thought our guys, for the fourth game in six nights, competed really hard,” Julien said. “Our backcheck was a lot better, which resulted in us not giving up any goals, which was something we had to rectify from the other night. I’m really proud of the guys and the way they’ve handled this week.”
Also making a statement was forward Chris Bourque, who scored Saturday’s only goal after he was a healthy scratch for the loss to the Sabres.
