Alex Rodriguez Curt SchillingWhile much of the attention around Curt Schilling’s recent ESPN interview is on what Schilling said about his Red Sox days, those weren’t the only comments the pitcher made about baseball’s performance-enhancing drug culture.

Schilling, who turned quite a few heads by talking about PEDs and the Red Sox this week, also had thoughts about the recent fall of Alex Rodriguez. The Yankees star is under heavy scrutiny after being named in a report that links him and other Major League Baseball stars to a Miami-area clinic known to distribute banned substances.

With the recent PED allegations and mounting injury-related concerns plaguing him, Rodriguez is now thought to be on the hot seat career-wise. The Yankees are reportedly looking into cutting him loose, and short of that, his legacy appears to have eroded beyond repair.

Schilling seems to agree with the common wisdom that it’s over for Rodriguez.

“I would be shocked if he [came back],” Schilling said in the ESPN interview. “Not shocked — I’d be surprised. I think he’s done.”

Rodriguez has five years and $114 million remain on his contract with the Yankees.
