Curt Schilling’s Bloody Sock From Game 2 of 2004 World Series Sells for $92,613 at Auction

Your chance to own one of the Red Sox’ most coveted pieces of memorabilia has come and gone.

After a week-long auction, Curt Schilling‘s bloody sock has finally been sold and for a hefty price of $92,613.

The bidding for Schilling’s bloody sock started at $25,000 on Monday and quickly increased to $32,000 by the afternoon.

The sock was originally loaned to the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum until Schilling’s company — 38 Studios –went bankrupt. He then decided to sell the sock to help pay off some of his debt.

What also could have played a factor in this auction is the fact that it’s not the most famous bloody sock of Schilling’s career. The one sold is actually Schilling’s bloody sock from Game 2 of the World Series against the Cardinals — as opposed to the one he wore in Game 6 of the ALCS against the Yankees. That sock was thrown in the trash at Yankee Stadium after the game.
