Back when Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett was playing for Florida State, a man by the name of Chris Rix was the quarterback for the Seminoles. Nowadays Rix works for FOX Sports, and on Wednesday alleged something very personal about his former teammate on Jay Mohr‘s radio show.
“There was always jokes about Darnell, and what his preference was in college, if I might,” Rix answered to a question about Dockett’s boisterous behavior. “Because there was a few incidents of him hanging out with some dudes in the Union and some other stuff.”
Not one to overlook a chance to get further explanation, Mohr asked Rix if teammates ever confronted Dockett about their speculation, and Rix didn’t back down, either.
“Yes, they did. And he would get defensive at times, as most guys would,” said Rix. “But let’s just say that there were a few stories of ‘Why is Darnell hanging out at this guy’s house or this guy’s dorm room?’”
On Thursday, Rix took to Twitter to apologize, reaching out to Dockett through the social media service. However, Rix didn’t necessarily retract his statement, simply saying he went too far during the interview.

In a series of tweets that have now been deleted, Dockett replied angrily. Rix’s former teammate, challenging Rix physically and saying nobody on the Seminoles liked their quarterback.
You can listen to the full interview below (things start to pick up around the 2:30 mark). A tip of the hat goes to Deadspin for compiling the audio.
If only Dwight Howard‘s play with the Lakers was worthy of this epic photo.
“When I heard about deer-antler spray, I said that’s nothing. We used to use this stuff called ‘DMSO.’ That’s what veterinarians put on horses’ muscles and we used it in the locker room.”

For the record, Chandler Parsons and Blake Griffin are close friends. Perhaps too close.
