On the bright side, the Miami Heat’s awful all-white uniforms won’t be the ugliest ones in the NBA anymore.
The Golden State Warriors announced Monday that they will introduce a new, sleeved alternate jersey for their Feb. 22 game against the Spurs. The all-yellow uniforms are being called “revolutionary” by apparel maker Adidas for innovations like breathable mesh material near the armpits — because, you know, having no material near the armpits clearly was an obsolete concept.
The terrible-looking jerseys actually come along at a fitting time for the Warriors. After a great start to the season that helped earn David Lee an All-Star spot, the Warriors have lost four in a row. Just when it seemed like their season had hit its low point, they received the news that things will fall even lower later this month when they take the court dressed like a women’s college volleyball team, or a Tour de France leader wearing the yellow jersey.
No major men’s professional basketball team has had jerseys with sleeves since the ABA merged with the NBA in 1976. In case you think we are being unfair, here is a true Warriors fan who is just as upset.
