Kevin Garnett Reaffirms That He Wants to Retire With Celtics, Tells Media ‘I Bleed Green’

Kevin Garnett, Dwight HowardBOSTON — Kevin Garnett is not going anywhere.

In case the friendly reminder about Garnett’s no-trade clause or this week’s report that he nixed trade talks with the Nuggets have not made that fact abundantly clear, the 18-year veteran has no intentions of changing his address. He is just fine playing with the Celtics, no matter what anybody else may believe about the team’s chances of winning a championship this season.

Before breaking up his postgame interview session on Thursday, Garnett asked the assembled media to listen in as he made one more statement.

“On a last note, I just want to say that I love my situation here,” Garnett said. “I don’t know who your sources are or whoever’s making up these [expletive] articles, having me traded to Denver and all these other places, but I bleed green. I’m going to continue to do that. If it’s up to me, then I’m going to retire a Celtic. I just want everybody to know that.”

As Garnett mentioned, he is going to retire with the Celtics “if it’s up to me” — which, by way of his no-trade clause, it is.
