Liberty, Longwood Combine for 55 Points in Final Four Minutes of Game

Longwood-LibertyIf you were browsing through college basketball box scores on Wednesday, Longwood’s 102-101 win over Liberty may have stuck out for its relatively high score. But the first 36 minutes of that game were rather pedestrian.

Longwood held an 80-68 lead over Liberty with 3:55 remaining. Then the two teams exploded for 55 points to close out the game.

Liberty scored 33 points and went seven of nine on 3-pointers. The Flames hit all four of their attempted free throws and added a dunk, two layups and a jumper.

In the final 3:55, Longwood attempted 22 free throws and hit 15 of them. The Lancers also added a dunk, a layup and a 3-pointer.

Longwood guard Tristan Carey was the star of the game with 40 points and 12 rebounds. He shot 8-for-15 from behind the arc and 8-for-10 on foul shots.
