The University of Maine women’s basketball team was involved in a bus accident Tuesday night on Interstate-95 in Georgetown, Mass. The Black Bears were traveling to a game against Boston University.

Maine athletic director Steve Abbott told reporters that the driver of the bus was slumped over the wheel at the time of the crash and may have suffered a medical issue.

According to Massachusetts State Police, the bus veered off of the southbound side of I-95, crossed the median and crashed into the woods on the northbound side. Twenty-two student-athletes in total were taken to the hospital, but all cases were only minor injuries or precautionary measures.

All of the players who were not injured were scheduled to stay in a hotel Tuesday night. The bus company carrying the Black Bears was Cyr and Sons, which is based out of Old Town, Maine.
