Montreal Canadiens forward is taking every precaution to make sure he’s OK, and perhaps give the NHL a little bit more information after he was allegedly bit by Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski.
According to The Associated Press, Pacioretty got a tetanus shot after Grabovski allegedly bit him in the third period of the Maple Leafs’ 6-0 win over the Canadiens on Saturday night in Montreal.
The two got tangled up in a scrum along the boards in a feisty third period between the two longtime rivals. Video replays appear to show Grabovski bite Pacioretty as the Canadiens forward was holding Grabovski around the neck.
The NHL ruled Monday that there was not enough evidence to hand out any supplemental discipline for the alleged bite.
“After interviewing both players involved in the incident and reviewing all of the available video and medical reports, the League could not determine conclusively that Grabovski bit [Pacioretty],” the department of player safety said in a statement.
Pacioretty said he got the shot as a precautionary measure.
