Max Pacioretty will be speaking with the NHL on Sunday, and he may not like what comes of it.

The Canadiens forward has a phone hearing with the league to discuss a hit he delivered on New York’s Ryan McDonagh in Saturday night in Montreal. Pacioretty was assessed a minor penalty for boarding after he delivered a big hit from behind during the second period of the Habs’ 3-0 win over the Rangers.

The hit left Rangers coach John Tortorella pretty upset (as many things do), as he opened his postgame media session by asking reporters how high off the ice Pacioretty had come to deliver the hit.

Pacioretty’s hearing is a phone hearing, so he won’t get more than five games if he is handed a suspension. He does, however, have supplemental discipline history. He was suspended three games for this hit on Penguins defenseman Kris Letang.
