During the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, one of the greatest upsets in the history of sports competition occurred.
If you’re a hockey fan it suffices to say you’ve heard about the Miracle on Ice, and if you have a few extra dollars lying around you could literally own a piece of the history. Team captain Mike Eruzione is auctioning off most of his equipment — including both of his jerseys and the stick he used to score the game-winning goal against the Soviet Union — that he says has just been sitting in his attic. Apparently, the gold medal, itself, is the only piece of memorabilia Eruzione needs for himself.
