Alex Ovechkin has garnered the affection of many hockey fans and media members over the years, but Mike Milbury is not one of them.
That’s because the superstar is once again not living up to the hype. The Caps are tied for last place in their conference, and during the second intermission of Wednesday night’s matchup against the Flyers, Milbury didn’t hold anything back when he analyzed Ovechkin’s performance.
According to Milbury, Ovechkin’s “awful display of hockey” was the result of his lack of effort, his antics on the ice and making mistakes “8-year-olds” wouldn’t make in the offensive zone.
But when No. 8 embellished a stick to the head and tried to draw a penalty, he really drew the ire of the NBC Sports Network analyst, prompting him to yell, “Get up and act like a man, for God’s sake!”
