Things got a little heated in one of the NHL’s best rivalries Saturday night, and an alleged biting incident has drawn the attention of the NHL.
Maple Leafs forward Mikhail Grabovski is scheduled to have a Sunday hearing with the league after he appeared to bite Montreal’s Max Pacioretty during a heated scrum late in Toronto’s 6-0 win over the Canadiens on Saturday night. The two got tangled up on the boards, and as Pacioretty’s arm got tied up around Grabovski, the Leafs forward looked to have bitten Pacioretty’s arm.
Neither player spoke following the game, but Montreal defenseman Josh Gorges had some stern words for Grabovsky.
“This shouldn’t be happening,” he said, according to the Toronto Star. “Drop your gloves. Fight. Stand up for yourself.”
Grabovski received a 10-minute misconduct and a roughing minor for his role, while Pacioretty was also handed a 10-minute misconduct.
