Minnesota Vikings Have ‘No Intent’ of Trading Percy Harvin, According to GM Rick Spielman

percy-harvin3There has been a lot of speculation this past week about the status of Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin.

Harvin has been the subject of many a trade rumor coming out of the Metrodome, and now is reportedly asking Minnesota for a new contract in the range of $10 million per season. That would put him among the highest-paid wide receivers in the league.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman attempted to silence much of the speculation surrounding his wide receiver speaking to reporters on Friday.

“We have no intent of trading Percy Harvin,” Spielman told KSTP-AM in Minneapolis.

“Percy Harvin is under contract and we expect him, just like all of our players under contract, to be here. He is a very good football player, but he knows what he does for our football team.”

Clearly, Rick Spielman and Vikings running back Adrian Peterson both want Harvin to remain in Minnesota. That comes after there were rumors of a rift between Harvin and head coach Leslie Frazier, which led to reports that Harvin was on his way out in Minnesota.

Fans in New England have to be taking interest in this story, since he would be a good fit with the Patriots. With Wes Welker‘s contract situation looming, New England could have a hole at wide receiver, and Harvin’s 1,300 all-purpose yards in nine games last year might help fill that void.
