Give Pau Gasol points for being optimistic.
Shortly before heading in for an MRI on his injured right foot on Wednesday, the Lakers big man posted a photo of himself smiling and giving two thumbs up. He tweeted that he was “hoping for good news!” It’s doubtful Gasol was all smiles a little while later.
The MRI revealed that Gasol had torn the plantar fascia in his foot and is expected to miss at least six weeks, the Lakers announced. Gasol joins Dwight Howard on the bench in the short term, as the Lakers’ other All-Star big man is out with a sore shoulder.
Check out Gasol, in happier times, in the photo below.
